![]() A mystical, angelic encounter seems to just be waiting for me on some winter evenings. A night that is almost like you are viewing a dreamscape but in reality it is very true to touch and experience. When a full moon on a clear night or even with a little cloud cover it is an incredible sight. I have told my husband a many times, “I could bundle up in a blanket with a Coleman thermos full of steaming, hot coffee and set out in the middle of a field, reading a book tonight.” The moonlight creates the most amazing blue hue upon the snow and sky. It's almost like looking through a blue lens or stained glass window. It always makes me feel like I am a character in some storybook land of mysterious surroundings and I'm waiting for some enchanted creature to walk up and say, “Hello! How did you get here, in Narnia?" What is the Snow Moon?Per Google, the Snow Moon or Full Snow Moon is: a traditional name for the full moon that occurs in February in North America. Usually this month is a time for snow and cold air temperatures, and this is the reason for the name snow moon. One thing I plan on doing as soon as conditions are right--Snow Moon, Fire (my elder-mare) and I are going to take an enchanted, moonlit ride. I love riding in the snow. It has a clear, yet nearly silent sound, if that makes any sense. I can hear every shuffle of her hooves through the deep snow, her breath billowing out of her nostrils like smoke from a good dragon. The soft sound of falling snow from a branch on high. The light whoosh of the air moving over a bird's wings as they dash past. Every sound is amplified but not overwhelming, as if in some vortex. I also love taking a walk on a night like described, with trees hanging overhead. A trail smoothly laid out, winding through the wood or the village street and my footsteps sounding as soft as rabbits fur. The good Lord Jesus took extra care when He designed such a beautiful thing as a snow moon for sure. I hope you've enjoyed this little reflection on the season of deep winter. Be a good steward and throw out some nuts and seeds for the critters to help them during the cold winter months, God bless. Spring is just over the snowy the ridge. Moonshine on dewy, flower covered fields is next. Other write-ups of interest by pro indie bloggers...Tips for Talent Club: Encouraging the Art of Giving via Graceful Intentions
